Building a Transaction-First Future for Social Crypto Users
Why Farcaster Bet Its Future on a Built-In Wallet

In late 2024, the Farcaster team launched the native Warpcast Wallet, a move inspired by observing how users were engaging with the platform. Tokens like $DEGEN and $CLANKER had emerged organically within Farcaster communities, revealing a key insight: users valued the ability to interact financially as much as socially. The Warpcast Wallet was designed to simplify crypto UX to match the effortless, social-first experience of Farcaster itself, enabling financial interactions (tipping, payments, token swaps) to flow as naturally as posting or liking.
The embedded wallet also solved a common pain point in crypto: fragmented workflows across wallets, exchanges, and social platforms.
By owning the wallet, Farcaster aligned its incentives with those of its users. When the next $DEGEN emerges, Farcaster won’t just host the hype—it will participate in the upside.
To further enhance the user experience, Warpcast integrated Dune’s Sim APIs to power its Tokens tab and Holders leaderboard with real-time, multichain data.
"Dune is one of our favorite teams to work with. They have great APIs, are laser-focused on uptime and reliability, and are extremely responsive when we need new features or improvements", explains Varun, CTO at Farcaster.
- Multichain Simplicity
With one API call, Warpcast can access data across 60+ chains—critical for a wallet targeting crypto-native users who transact across Ethereum, Base, and Farcaster-native ecosystems like Degen. - Realtime Responsiveness
Dune’s infrastructure delivers data in <200ms from block propagation, ensuring users see balances and prices instantly. No 204s / delayed results, whether it's a brand new wallet or vitalik.eth. - Enriched Onchain Context
Dune’s proprietary onchain pricing engine fetches realtime prices directly from liquidity pools at query time, ensuring accurate valuations and surfacing token liquidity. This unlocks advanced, liquidity-aware spam filtering that other providers can’t match.
"By using Sim, we can focus on our core product experience instead of having to spend cycles integrating with every chain. Switching to Sim was quick, and the team actively incorporated any feedback we had to provide the best experience for our users!" says Kartik, engineer at Farcaster.
- Processed 12 million requests in two weeks, averaging 20M requests per month
- Secured 100% of Tokens tab traffic with little downtime
- Maintained and improved their token holder leaderboard, replacing SimpleHash’s deprecated service
“Sim isn’t just an API vendor—they’re a strategic partner,” says Dan Romero, founder of Farcaster. “Their roadmap aligns with our mission to make Farcaster the most user-friendly wallet in crypto.”
